Right plant, right place

copy-of-picture-211 Alice Oakleaf hydrangea located behind a row of soft touch holly.  The soft touch holly are planted on 30″ centers so that they won’t overgrow each other or need to be pruned.  The hydrangea are planted behind the holly and are allowed to grow naturally so that they can fill up the space and look natural.  In the winter they loose their leaves but by keeping the dried flower heads on them, they maintain a lot of interest.
